Schematic - Compiler

Parent page: Schematic Preferences

The Schematic - Compiler page of the Preferences dialog.

Summary

The Schematic – Compiler page of the Preferences dialog provides controls related to schematic junctions and the visual behavior of the schematic compiler.

Access

The Schematic – Compiler page is part of the main Preferences dialog (File | ) and is accessed by clicking the Compiler entry under the Schematic folder, in the left hand pane of the dialog.

Options/Controls

Errors & Warnings

  • Errors & Warnings - The schematic objects that have an error or a warning can have a wriggle underlined with a specified color on the schematic sheet. For each level of violation, the display can be toggled and the color set by clicking in its matching Display and Color fields.

Auto-Junctions

  • Display On Wires - Enable the option to display the system-generated junctions for wire objects on a schematic document.
    • Size - Choose the size of system-generated junctions for wire objects on a schematic document.
    • Color - Click to change the color of system-generated junctions.
  • Display On Buses -  Enable the option to display the system-generated junctions for bus objects on a schematic document.
    • Size - Choose the size of system generated junctions for bus objects on a schematic document.
    • Color - Click to change the color of system-generated junctions.

Manual Junctions Connection Status

A circle (solid color disk) is shown at a manually placed junction to indicate its status – the presence of a circle indicates a valid junction connection.

  • Display - Enable to display circles around manually placed junctions on a schematic document.
  • Size - Select the size of the circles around the manually placed junctions on a schematic document.
  • Color - Click to change the color of the circles of the manually placed junctions.
Note that the junction status circles will not be visible if set to the same size as (or smaller than) the manual junction object.

Compiled Names Expansion

Display the expanded compiled names of the following objects

When a design project is compiled, all the logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets, and as a consequence some nets are also expanded to reflect on the expanded physical sheets. Compiled documents display the compiled data with the corresponding source data displayed in brackets using superscript, as defined by the following preference settings:

  • Designators - Enable this option to allow component designators on physical sheets to acquire expanded net information when logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets.
  • Net Labels - Enable this option to allow net labels on physical sheets to acquire expanded net information when logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets.
  • Ports - Enable this option to allow ports on physical sheets to acquire expanded net information when logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets.
  • Sheet Number - Enable this option to allow sheet number parameters on physical sheets to acquire expanded net information when logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets.
  • Document Number - Enable this option to allow document number parameters on physical sheets to acquire expanded information when logical sheets are expanded into physical sheets.
For each of the above objects, the associated drop-down list controls how the expanded compiled names of document number parameters are displayed after the project is compiled. The options are:
  • Never display superscript: Choose this to not display superscript text.
  • Always display superscript: Choose this to display superscript text.
  • Display superscript if necessary: Choose this option and when the logical number and the compiled number differ, then the superscript is displayed.
Dim level for read-only objects in compiled documents tabs

To indicate that Compiled documents are read-only, they are displayed with a different color scheme from the source document in the Editor tab.

By default the dim level setting of the compilation tabs is at 70% gray scale of the Editor tab. Move the track bar to the left to decrease the dim setting (more color) or move the bar to the right to increase the dim level (more gray, less intensity).

Note that the Editor and Compiled Document selection tabs appear at the bottom of the Editor window – the latter will not be available until the source document (in the Editor tab) is compiled.
